I set out for Poland yesterday and already I’ve hit a snag. Christa dropped me off at the Denver airport three hours before my flight. Apparently I needed more time! Even though I was there at the counter so early, apparently I had no seat on the plane. They told me they were looking for people to give up their seat on the plane and to just hang out. So hang out I did for another 3 hours. It got to be the time when the plane was supposed to take off and they hadn’t said anything so I figured I’d inquire as to the status of my phantom seat. Apparently they had forgotten to tell me that there was no way in hell I was getting on the plane that I had paid for! I know this stuff happens, I just wish they would have communicate a little more effectively. Anyways, I am on the same flights today, everything just got shifted back one day.
They did put me up in a nice hotel though. That’s right, I aimed for Poland and ended up in Denver in a hotel. However, at this point, the hotel is probably nicer than my house. It has cable! It also has fancier soaps and shampoos than I have at home, or in my travel bag. It is odd though, I feel like I am not in Denver anymore. I think it’s because I went to the airport, hung out for a while, and then ended up in a hotel. This is usually a recipe for being somewhere else. I wonder what people feel like when they work at the airport, do they feel as if they’ve gone somewhere? This is probably akin to the issue where when I take naps, I always wake up feeling as though I’ve been kidnapped. I may have auto-location problems.
Anyways, I am going down to eat the breakfast that Lufthansa is paying for and then I am heading over to the airport, 8 hours early. What else do I have to do? My hair smells like mint, and my body smells like lemon grass (I told you they had nice stuff here). I think this will help when I ask them to bump me up a class on the flight, to compensate for the big business meeting I am missing on Monday… ssshhh!
