There is an article on CNN about a recent study on reading habits of Americans. As you might imagine, it’s not all that good, but I suppose that might be a biased opinion. There are a bunch of interesting points in the article, but I’ll put out a couple of the most interesting.
- 25% of Americans read no books in the past year
- People in the south read more than other areas, but they read religious books and romance novels
- People who never attend religious services read nearly twice as much as those who do
- Democrats and liberals read slightly more than Republicans and conservatives
- Religious books are most likely to be read by older and married women, lower earners, minorities, lesser educated people, Southerners, rural residents, Republicans and conservatives
