Green Mountain Reservoir

Christa and I went to Green Mountain Reservoir this past weekend to go camping. We were supposed to stay for two nights but it was going to snow/rain on Saturday night and so we ended up coming back early. We did a beautiful hike around Lake Cataract on Saturday and then headed into Summit County to try out some wine! The wine tasting was pretty cool because I got to see there brewing setup which is basically an expansion of what I currently do at home. There are some (really pretty) pictures of the trip after the break. Also, we experimented and took a longer exposure shot at night of Perrin with a light on him running along the beach. Really cool I think. More pictures after the break.

Panorama with Perrin in it. Nice panorama of the bottom of a waterfall area. It looks like he\'s swimming, but he\'s not. Muddy! An odd looking tree. Christa and Perrin. Christa and Perrin. I tried a longer exposure time to get \'fluffy\' water, but it didn\'t work so well. We color coordinated. Alien birthing pods? Nice shot from the middle of one mountain looking out over the lake. The sand from the night before got stuck in the shutter motor, boo. There is a fox way up there in the background. The view from my tent in the morning. iPhone doesn\'t do so well at night. We put a light on Perrin and let him run along the beach at night! This was a 15 second exposure time. See him jump at the end? We put a light on Perrin and let him run along the beach at night! That was a very cool picture of Perrin running along the beach. I haven't done any real hiking, just some easy trails around Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies.

Sleeping in a tent with the sky as your roof can be a very beautiful experience. I am not much of an outdoors man myself though. The last tent I slept in was in Viet Nam around 1965. :)

Colorado is a very beautiful state. I haven't spent any time there, just driven through. I was a very scenic ride, about 20 years ago.

    Hey Ed,

I actually do a lot less hiking/backpacking now than I did when I lived
backed east. Out here, it's either really flat (and boring) or it's
straight up the side of a mountain (and pretty).

Colorado is really beautiful and there are lots of very nice areas around
here too. Nothing is super close but nothing is too far either, it's just
    right.

I am glad you liked the picture of Perrin, it was one of my artsier moments.

Biking home today two guys flagged me down and asked what the guy I'd just passed in the other direction was wearing. I didn't know and asked why they cared- he had been naked when they drove by him, and when they stopped he put on clothes and took off. It's exactly like I was in Boulder.

Haha it is! I think it's great that when they stopped, he took the time to
put on clothes and then took off. It seems like an unwieldy action
    sequence.

Nice. Stokes the flames of my Colorado-missing.

It's been nice around here lately. We've had a fair bit of rain so it's
very green instead of the traditional brown.

How is this for some Colorado-Scotland mixing? We went down to Boulder
Creek Festival yesterday but it started pouring. We ran into that Scottish
pub on Walnut and had a drink while we waited out the weather (which of
course only lasted 20 minutes). It's like we were in Scotland!
