I had an idea for a little project the other day, it’s a winter alarm clock. I haven’t actually made this yet, but if I decide to, it’d work like this. I’d probably run this on my laptop and just have a script that runs continually. The script would look something like below:
IF snow in mountains GT 6 inches THEN BEGIN
SET alarm to 5:45 – Gotta get up for those early morning drives into the mountains! If you can beat the rush, you get there so much quicker by being ahead of the traffic.
PLAY something to get my pumped – I love listening to Surprise Valley by Widespread Panic to get myself into the mood to do something stupid on the mountain that will probably hurt me. Don’t worry, I wear a helmet.
TURN ON my stove to get some hot chocolate ready – If I could figure out a way to get some bacon going, I’d do that too.
ENDIF ELSE IF work is closed EQ 1 THEN BEGIN
SET alarm to OFF – No work, the alarm is staying off!
MAKE robot take dog out to go to the bathroom – Like I said, not waking up. But honestly, Perrin will stay in bed as long as we do, no worries here. I just wanted you to think I had a robot.
ENDIF ELSE BEGIN
SET alarm to 7:00 – Gotta get up and go to work…
PLAY something to ease me into the morning – Let’s not make it any harder than it is, maybe some Yanni?
ENDELSE
